Respect
The Seven Core Values of the Native American Church
RESPECT
Respect is politeness, honor, and care shown toward someone or something that is considered important. In Native American cultures, respect is taught from birth. All living things are to be respected: all two-legged, four-legged, winged-ones, and all aspects of Mother Earth.
Respect is deeply connected to honoring and humility. The three values go hand in hand.
We believe that all of creation has purpose and that each creation has value. We should especially respect our ancestors who have created and preserved the ancient ways that teach and bless us. Respect is also extended to all ceremonial ways and sacred medicines. We walk in right way to respect Creator and all gifts given to us.
